FAQ
who are you?
i’m webMaster rudolf dienstag. look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair.
what are user experiences?
a new type of web series i’m developing with a focus on interactivity. my ux site will be overhauled soon but you can read more about it here.
what is your art process?
somewhat like this:
- sketch (usually analog)
- render line art in clip studio paint
- base color flats shadows highlights
- color line art on clip mask
- add textures and color correction filters
you can see some of my tools here.
how do i build a website?
you can build a very basic website with some simple html/css. nero’s quick ‘n’ dirty guide to making a website is the best place to start and my home page’s two-column design was inspired by sadgrl’s layout builder.
to take it further, consider using a static site generator like astro javascript or 11ty. both have a learning curve but astro especially is incredible at managing content heavy sites like mine. coding in public has a full astro blog tutorial on youtube.
i’ve put together some additional resources and free code here.

Oh, i’m touched! I am glad my question inspired you. I think that there’s a lot of artistic merit in your work, and we need weird and gross fiction and art now more than ever. these links will be very useful. i do hope you take care of yourself though; just knowing there are still cool people making cool things out there is enough for me personally. i’ll also keep what you said about commissions in mind—if theres anyone i know who would like your art, i’ll tell them about you!
i agree fully. we absolutely need more creepy, fucked up, awful, heinous and legally gray art, now more than ever, and we need it because they will always hate us and we must love ourselves enough to continue creating it.
part of what makes me most passionate about my website is in recognizing that i will likely never profit off of it financially and also in other social spaces. it was difficult to come to terms with because that was the rubric i used to measure my worth, but that meant it was created entirely for me, on my own terms, because i wanted it, and because beyond what it meant to me, i believed so deeply that it deserved to exist that i built a home for it.
